Key information

PlayStation is expanding its Ghost of Tsushima franchise into the realm of animation with a series titled Ghost of Tsushima: Legends. Based on the cooperative multiplayer mode introduced in 2020, the project shifts focus from the original protagonist Jin Sakai to explore folklore, supernatural creatures, and Japanese legends.

The production is a collaborative effort involving Crunchyroll, Aniplex, and PlayStation Productions, with Sony Music handling the soundtrack. Takanobu Mizuno, known for Star Wars: Visions, is directing the series, while studio Kamikaze Douga is managing the animation. Takashi Okazaki, recognized for his work on Afro Samurai, is responsible for character design.

Although initial reports suggested a 2027 release, Crunchyroll and Aniplex confirmed at the New York Comic Con that the series has been delayed to 2028. No specific reason for this scheduling change was provided, leaving the exact cause for the postponement uncertain.

The series will be available exclusively on Crunchyroll. While casting details remain limited, Mayumi Saco, who voiced Tomoe in the original game, and Shinya Fukumatsu have been announced as part of the voice cast. Further details regarding the total number of episodes and specific plot structure are currently undisclosed.
