Key information
GamingDose recently had the opportunity to try out Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse at the Konami booth during Tokyo Game Show 2026. The booth featured a gothic throne, Dracula cosplay, and a closed castle-hallway entrance leading to the demo area.
Set in Paris in 1499, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse follows an elderly Trevor Belmont and his daughter Rose Belmont as they fight to eliminate a dark threat. The game utilizes a 2.5D art style blending anime characters with layered 2D backgrounds and 3D character models, alongside a soundtrack featuring familiar series melodies rearranged with electronic rhythms and organ sounds.
The gameplay follows the Metroidvania approach of exploration and combat while introducing faster combat pacing and fluid movement. Rose Belmont offers high agility with sliding, whip-swinging, and dashing capabilities within the side-scrolling format. Players can utilize the traditional Belmont whip, additional weapons, relics, and the Arcana magic system to customize their combat style.
The game features intense boss encounters requiring players to learn attack patterns, while also offering customizable difficulty options such as adjusting incoming damage and setting respawn points near boss rooms to accommodate both story-focused players and those seeking a challenge.
A demo is currently available for players to try, and the full game is scheduled for release on October 15, 2026, for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
