Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is weeks away from release, and developers Infinity Ward and Activision have detailed a new anti-cheat technology called Server Culling designed to combat wallhacks in multiplayer matches.
Previously, multiplayer servers transmitted all player locations to every client regardless of line of sight, allowing wallhacks to reveal opponents hidden behind barriers. Server Culling uses occlusion layers placed inside structures to determine when players cannot see each other, withholding location data until an opponent moves into view.
Infinity Ward confirmed that Server Culling will be active across every map available at launch for Modern Warfare 4, including DMZ and Combat Outpost, alongside new live-season maps for multiplayer, DMZ, and Warzone starting in Season 1 and beyond.
The developers express confidence that this method will disrupt the cheat marketplace and continue strengthening their layer technology ahead of the game's release on Friday October 23.
