Key information
Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward recently shared a first look at the action extraction mode DMZ for Modern Warfare 4, initiating a week of news. However, the developer has not confirmed whether a dedicated player-versus-environment playlist will be offered for those wishing to avoid combat with other players.
Fans inspecting episode seven of the behind-the-scenes video series From the Ward spotted a deployment screen showing four options, with one labeled Single Squad Mission lacking an on-screen description. This unnamed feature sparked community discussion across Reddit and X regarding a potential single-squad lobby where players join via invite.
While some community members hope the unnamed option represents a solely player-versus-environment mode, others speculate it connects to Lieutenant Hunts or serves as a low-stress onboarding option for lower-level users, noting the level five player in the earlier footage contrasted with a level twenty-eight player in a subsequent trailer that notably omitted the Single Squad option.
DMZ will release alongside Modern Warfare 4 on October 23rd for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
