Key information
Clint "Maven" Evans, a well-known commentator for the Call of Duty League, has officially announced his resignation from the organization for the foreseeable future. This departure follows his decision to enter a romantic relationship with the ex-wife of his long-time casting partner and friend, Joseph "MerK" DeLuca.
In a public statement, Evans acknowledged the unconventional and taboo nature of the situation. He explained that his friendship with Maurisa, DeLuca's former spouse, evolved into a romantic connection following their divorce. Evans expressed that he never anticipated this outcome given his close personal history with DeLuca and his family.
The esports community has reacted strongly to the news, with many fans expressing disappointment over the perceived betrayal of a decade-long friendship. DeLuca has remained silent on the matter, with no activity on his X account since October 4.
While Evans stated he hopes to return to the Call of Duty League eventually, he admitted that such a comeback remains uncertain. The league has not yet confirmed a start date for the upcoming season, which typically commences in December.
