Sony and Arc System Works have officially unveiled the first gameplay for Phoenix Cyclops, the inaugural downloadable character for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. This version of the character, based on the Phoenix Five from Avengers vs. X-Men, is scheduled for release on November 2, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC.
The character features a versatile combat style that blends long-range and short-range attacks. Players can utilize Optic Blasts to accumulate energy, enabling a transformation into Dark Phoenix form. While this state grants increased power, it comes at the cost of reduced health. Arc System Works aimed to provide an unexpected experience, moving away from the traditional Cyclops depictions seen in previous fighting games.
Developers noted that the decision to include this specific iteration was driven by a desire for fresh visual effects and a more exciting combat style. For players who prefer a more traditional aesthetic, the game will also include Classic and Legacy costumes for the character.
Phoenix Cyclops serves as the first DLC addition for the game's Year 1 content. Following this release, three additional characters are planned to join the roster, though their identities have not yet been disclosed by the publisher.
