Key information
Blumhouse Productions has officially entered a partnership with YouTube personality Matthew ‘MatPat’ Patrick to produce a series of feature films based on popular indie horror games. The collaboration was formally announced during the New York Comic Con 2026 panel.
The inaugural project for this partnership is an adaptation of Amanda the Adventurer. The original title is a first-person puzzle game centered on a mysterious, low-budget children’s television program. MatPat described the narrative as horror with heart, focusing on the tragic nature of the titular character and the dangers of untrustworthy media.
Development is currently underway, with MatPat noting that the team is actively negotiating with potential writers and directors. He emphasized that the production is moving quickly to bring these internet-based horror stories to the big screen.
This initiative follows a growing trend of YouTuber-led horror adaptations, including Markiplier’s Iron Lung and the success of Kane Parson’s Backrooms. Major studios are increasingly targeting viral indie horror content, with other projects like The Mandela Catalogue and Siren Head already in development.
