Key information

Blizzard has officially integrated the cherished 'Kyle's Gone Missing!' quest into World of Warcraft: Forever. The memorial quest originated during the Burning Crusade expansion via a Make-a-Wish campaign for Ezra Chatterton, who recorded lines for quest-giver Ahab Wheathoof and inspired the inclusion of his dog Kyle.

Although the addition departs from the strict vanilla-only ethos of the project, the community requested its inclusion through forum discussions. Community manager Kaivax responded that the team was working on the request, and four days later the content went live on October 1 in the beta.

Principal Designer Johnny Cash expressed the emotional weight of implementing the content for Chatterton, who passed away in October 2008. Players engaging with the content in Mulgore can encounter the NPC within Bloodhoof Village starting at level 5.

The update highlights the willingness of developers to bend traditional preservation boundaries for meaningful historical pieces, despite initial friction with the vanilla-focused design philosophy.
