Key information
Nordisk Games has formalized a new publishing agreement between its subsidiaries, Avalanche Studios Group and Supermassive Games. Under this arrangement, Avalanche will manage global publishing, marketing, and distribution for Supermassive titles, starting with Directive 8020.
The partnership establishes shared operational support for finance, IT, and human resources. Despite this integration, both studios will maintain creative independence and retain full ownership of their respective development plans and portfolios.
Nordisk Film & Nordisk Games CEO Allan Mathson Hansen stated that the collaboration aims to foster long-term success by allowing teams to focus on their core strengths. Avalanche CEO Stefanía Halldórsdóttir noted that the move leverages Avalanche's publishing experience to support Supermassive's horror game legacy.
This organizational shift follows recent workforce reductions at both companies. Supermassive Games implemented its third round of layoffs in three years this August, while Avalanche Studios closed its Liverpool location in November 2025, alongside staff cuts in Malmö and Stockholm.
