Xbox confirmed in late September that Halo Studios, previously known as 343 Industries, will no longer develop the franchise. A new team formed within Activision will take charge of future entries.
As a farewell after fourteen years working on the franchise since Halo 4 in 2012, Halo Studios shared concept art and images in Canon Fodder depicting Forerunner cities, Zeta Halo, the UNSC Infinity, and the Xalanyn.
According to Alex Wakeford and Jeff Easterling, the publication was prepared before knowing the studio would step down, leaving hints about what Halo 7 could have been.
Uncertainty surrounds the franchise's continuity, with unconfirmed speculation suggesting the new Activision team might implement a retcon to bypass previous entries after Halo 3.
Meanwhile, Tahir Tashi Hasandjekic confirmed that the Halo Fest celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary from December eleven to thirteen, 2026, remains scheduled.
