At the Brasil Game Show 2026, Bahia-based indie studio Aoca Game Lab presented their upcoming survival adventure, ARIDA 2: Rise of the Brave. CEO and producer Filipe Pereira explained that the game serves as the second installment in a planned trilogy, following the journey of a girl named Cícera as she searches for her parents and the legendary village of Canudos.

The series is set in the late 19th-century Brazilian hinterlands, specifically focusing on the historical War of Canudos. Pereira emphasized that the project is deeply personal, aiming to share the tragic history of the Canudos community, which was destroyed by the military in 1897. The studio intends to convey this heavy subject matter with a respectful tone that avoids trivializing the events.

Gameplay centers on narrative-driven survival mechanics, such as gathering resources like caroá plants to craft essential items. Players must navigate arid landscapes where locating water sources is critical for survival. While the demo features survival elements, Pereira stressed that the story remains the primary focus of the experience.

A significant update since the gamescom latam 2026 preview is the addition of Japanese language support for the interface and subtitles. Although the studio initially targeted a 2026 release, the launch is now scheduled for 2027. The game will be available on Steam, continuing the studio's history of multi-platform development.
