Embark is preparing a major update titled Frozen Trail for Arc Raiders, which includes a visual overhaul for Speranza leader Celeste. Chief creative officer Stefan Strandberg noted that past limitations in expressive capabilities broke player immersion and failed to convey the intended narrative stakes.
To address these issues, voice actor Diana Gardner is becoming the new face of Celeste. Embark utilized full motion capture for the first time, incorporating a detailed and accurate face to map emotional expressions and translate the actor's authentic performance directly onto the screen.
Strandberg stated that this initiative marks the beginning of a broader wave of visual reworks. Future updates will bring other characters into closer alignment with their real-world actors to better integrate genuine human performances.
The revamped Celeste will debut when the Frozen Trail update launches on October 6. Alongside this character rework, the update introduces a new frozen map, new ARC challenges, gun upgrades, and personal outposts.
