Embark Studios is celebrating the first anniversary of ARC Raiders by releasing its largest update to date, titled Frozen Trail 2.0. To mark the occasion, the developer has enabled a free trial for the extraction shooter across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 until October 12 at 10:00 Spanish time.

The update introduces significant mechanical changes, including a revamped progression system, a new skill tree, and an customizable Outpost base. Players can now explore the icy Pendola Pass map, which features dynamic loot zones and the massive fallen Emperor machine. Combat is expanded with new weapons like the Stiletto battle rifle and Bantam revolver, alongside a versatile grappling hook compared by Vida Extra to the one in Uncharted 4.

Three new enemy types—the Bully, Skulker, and Hydra turret—pose fresh threats alongside environmental hazards like Flash Freeze. While the game is currently free to access without requiring online subscriptions like PlayStation Plus Essential or Xbox Game Pass Core, Embark has not confirmed if progress will carry over if players purchase the game at its discounted price of 20 euros.

Following the trial, a PvE event will run from October 13 to 20, allowing solo players, duos, and trios to share sessions without friendly fire. This shift responds to community feedback, as 51% of surveyed participants expressed interest in a dedicated PvE mode.
