Key information
Kenji Ozawa, the director of Visions of Mana, is expanding the Japanese development structure Studio Sasanqua into video game publishing. While primarily focused on internal development, the company will credit its name as a publisher for the first time on Afantasia, a surrealist adventure game created by independent Brazilian developer noidnoidnoid.
Afantasia is an upcoming narrative adventure title heading to PC via Steam with no release date announced yet. Set in the small town of Tempo, players will explore the past, interact with environments, and solve puzzles to uncover the protagonist's identity before making a final choice between staying in Tempo or leaving for the city. Visually, the game combines pixel art and horror elements in an HD-2D style influenced by the PSX era.
The collaborative title will feature its very first playable demo at the Brasil Game Show 2026 and the DREAMSCAPE#5 independent convention in Tokyo. Explaining his publishing philosophy to GameBiz, Ozawa stated that producing a game involves taking responsibility for player enjoyment and acting freely without constraints rather than blindly following trends.
Currently, Afantasia stands as the sole officially announced publishing project for Studio Sasanqua, though the studio's official website hints at two additional upcoming projects, including an adventure title developed by Studio Sasanqua itself and an action game from an as-yet-unidentified developer.
