Milestone has released a new update for the anime-styled arcade racer Screamer, addressing player feedback regarding its unconventional twin stick drift mechanics. Previously, the game required players to use a second stick to initiate drifts, a design choice that challenged established muscle memory for many racing fans.

The latest patch introduces an optional single stick sliding control scheme. Players can enable this feature by navigating to the options menu before starting a race. Game director Federico Cardini noted that while the twin stick method remains the recommended way to experience the game's ECHO System, the new option provides a more familiar alternative for those who find the original controls difficult to master.

Beyond control adjustments, the update includes several technical and gameplay refinements. Milestone has removed unnecessary suspension lines, adjusted character unlock requirements, and improved the default camera distance detection. Additionally, the patch balances the on-track powers of various competitors and relocates an obstructive invisible wall found near a shortcut on one of the tracks.
