Key information

AMD has allegedly increased the pricing for GDDR6 memory supplied to its add-in board partners. According to a post on the Chinese forum Board Channels, this pricing adjustment became effective on October 1.

Because AMD provides GPUs bundled with memory to its partners, these increased costs are expected to impact the final retail prices of graphics cards. This development aligns with recent reports of higher suggested Radeon prices in China, where the RX 9070 saw an increase equivalent to $104 and the RX 9060 XT 8 GB rose by $45.

The company has not officially confirmed this latest price hike. AMD partners have faced multiple cost increases throughout 2026, including a reported 10% hike on GPU kits in July and a separate 10% increase in September affecting GPUs, chipsets, and potentially CPUs due to rising TSMC wafer costs.

In contrast, NVIDIA has reportedly not issued similar notices regarding GDDR7 pricing and may avoid further memory price changes this year. While the impact on retail prices outside of China remains uncertain, the situation follows previous NVIDIA price adjustments for GDDR6 and GDDR7 kits that occurred in July.
