Key information
NCJapan has organized a collaborative stunt with Gifu Bungee to highlight the flight mechanics of the upcoming PC cross-world MMORPG AION2, scheduled for official launch on October 5. The game serves as a direct sequel to The Tower of Aion, featuring Unreal Engine 5 graphics, three-dimensional exploration, aerial combat, and wing-based flight.
The collaboration takes place at Gifu Bungee in Yaotsu Town, Gifu Prefecture, utilizing Japan's highest bridge bungee with a bridge length of 462m and a jump height of 215m. AION2 Japan operations director Seiichi Kasamatsu was initially scheduled to jump to pray for the game's success, but exceeded the site's weight limit of 40 to 100kg.
To fulfill a promise made to users during an official live broadcast, AION2 Japan operations producer Jungjin Hong stepped in to take the jump instead. Hong, who had never done bungee jumping before, experienced initial hesitation and stated his mind went blank before counting down and shouting AION2 while leaping off the platform.
The collaboration runs from October 4 to March 3, 2027. Participants wishing to wear the AION2 collaborative special wing suit must contact the Bungee Japan Call Center in advance, with normal pricing set at 28,000 yen for the first jump and 13,000 yen for subsequent jumps on the same day.
