Key information
Activision has officially announced a new technology called Server Culling designed to combat wall hack cheats in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The publisher stated via social media on October 2, 2026, that wall hacks provide cheaters with unauthorized information, prompting the introduction of this new protective measure.
Traditional multiplayer games send all player location data to every client for processing, creating a vulnerability that allows wall hacks to function. Under the new Server Culling system, the server will not transmit enemy position data to a player's machine initially. A special visibility layer embedded in the map will conceal player locations on the server side until an opponent actually comes into view.
This Server Culling technology will cover every map in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on launch day, including the DMZ and Combat Outpost modes, as well as new maps arriving during Season 1. The game is scheduled for release on October 23, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
