Key information

Famitsu reports that Ace Combat 8 has secured the top spot on the Japanese physical software sales chart. This achievement marks a rare victory for the PlayStation 5, as it is the first time in several months that a Nintendo platform has not led the rankings.

The title achieved 63,013 physical units sold upon its release. This performance places it ahead of other new entries, including the PlayStation 5 version of Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, which sold 18,724 units.

Despite the software success, the Nintendo Switch 2 maintained its lead in hardware sales. It moved over 26,000 units, more than double the 12,210 units sold by the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition during the same period.

The combined sales of the PlayStation 5 version of Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered helped Sony secure two positions at the top of the physical software chart, highlighting a notable performance for the platform in the Japanese market.
