Key information

An Anthony DeMarco received a Digital Storm Corsa computer purchased by his father for $5,245.00 before tax, delivered in May of 2025. The system included an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 from PNY and a 1,000-watt semi-modular power supply from Digital Storm. DeMarco tested the system upon delivery and packed it away until starting a job, receiving it again in August 2026.

Two weeks after receiving the computer in August 2026, DeMarco noticed a burning smell and screen flickering. Upon inspection, he found the power wires heavily melted and burned, with damage extending to the power supply cable head fused into the unit. Digital Storm closed a support ticket on August 31, stating the parts warranty had expired while parts carry manufacturer support.

When DeMarco requested an RMA from PNY, a service representative denied warranty coverage because Digital Storm had utilized its own custom-sleeved cables instead of a PNY-approved power cable or adapter. PNY stated that damage caused by third-party cabling falls under the responsibility of that cable or power supply manufacturer. PNY later informed Tom's Hardware that they are reviewing the case.
