Key information
Paramount Pictures is currently developing a live-action feature film based on the open-world RPG Cyberpunk 2077. According to a report by Deadline, the project will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, known for his work on the Transformers series, with the game's developer, CD PROJEKT RED, also participating in the production.
CD PROJEKT RED joint CEO Michał Nowakowski expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that Paramount shares the company's creative ambitions for the franchise. He noted that further details will be shared at an appropriate time, though specific information regarding the director, script, cast, and release date remains unannounced.
The status of this new film in relation to a previously announced live-action project remains unclear. In October 2023, CD PROJEKT RED revealed a collaboration with Anonymous Content, which was still in early development as of August 2025.
Beyond this film, the franchise continues its expansion with the upcoming Netflix exclusive anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. Produced by CD PROJEKT RED and TRIGGER, the series is scheduled for release on October 20, 2026, and will feature an entirely new cast of characters.
