Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures is currently developing a live-action film set in the world of the open-world action adventure game Cyberpunk 2077. The game follows a mercenary named V who becomes embroiled in a life-threatening conflict after a biochip containing the personality of rocker Johnny Silverhand is implanted in their head.

The production will involve Lorenzo di Bonaventura, known for his work on the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises, who is collaborating with the game's developer, CD PROJEKT RED. Paramount Pictures, recognized for the Mission: Impossible and The Godfather series, is leading the project.

CD PROJEKT RED co-CEO Michał Nowakowski addressed the reports on X, expressing high expectations for Paramount as a partner that shares the company's creative ambitions. He noted that further details will be shared at an appropriate time.

This development follows a 2023 announcement regarding a separate live-action project involving Anonymous Content. The relationship between the Paramount film and the earlier Anonymous Content project remains unclear. Additionally, the franchise continues to expand with the upcoming Netflix release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, scheduled for October 20.
