Key information
Paramount Pictures is collaborating with CD Projekt Red to develop a live-action project set within the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. This development was confirmed by CD Projekt Red co-CEO Michał Nowakowski via his social media activity on X.
According to reports from DEADLINE, the production will involve Lorenzo di Bonaventura, known for his work on the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises, as well as the 2005 Doom film. Despite this partnership, the project currently lacks a director, cast, specific plot details, or a scheduled release date.
While the project is confirmed to utilize the setting of the Night City metropolis, officials have not clarified if the narrative will adapt the game's specific story involving the mercenary V and Johnny Silverhand. Consequently, the inclusion of these central characters remains uncertain.
CD Projekt Red expressed enthusiasm regarding the partnership, citing shared creative ambitions for the franchise. This move aligns with Paramount's broader strategy of adapting gaming properties, which includes upcoming projects like the Street Fighter film slated for October 16.
