Key information

The 15th-anniversary event for Drosselmeyer's was held on October 4 at LOFT9 Shibuya. Representative Noriaki Watanabe and Oink Games' Jun Sasaki took the stage to look back on their journey from their days involved in digital games to moving into board game production.

Watanabe shared that he experienced the difficulty of balancing sales and production at the store he opened in 2011, and after closing it in 2013, he shifted his focus entirely to production. He explained that in work partnering with corporations, it became important not just to pitch single titles, but to approach development by growing multiple titles as a series.

At the venue, an attempt was made to have about 100 people play the new game Drosselmeyer's Historia. The regular recording modes include a 2-player match, a 3- to 6-player elimination mode, and a 7- to 50-player event mode, but on this day, a unique setup using three boxes accommodated the large player count.

Matches are fundamentally based on comparing numbers, structured around using the effects of Esper cards. Since revealed abilities cannot be flipped back down face-down, timing when to show them becomes a game of psychological prediction. The new game is scheduled for release on October 17 and 18 at Game Market 2026 Autumn, and it was also introduced that the next main installment of Kaiju on the Earth has developments planned for 2027.
