Key information
Independent development team Salt&Vinegar has officially launched their puzzle game titled ESC ape, You died? on the Steam platform.
The project was specifically designed to fit entirely onto a single 3.5-inch floppy disk with a file size of 1.44 MB. Players must solve puzzles and progress through stages by utilizing the settings interface and various user interface elements centered around the ESC key. According to the developers, the title combines a clever wordplay on escape to highlight a core gameplay mechanic centered strictly on the escape menu key.
The development team noted that options windows do much more than just display settings because they can literally block incoming projectiles, while the return to title button transforms into a physical landing platform. Adjusting brightness, volume, resolution, and hotkey configurations acts as the ultimate key to solving mysteries. Furthermore, the user interface elements themselves can shield players from enemy attacks or counterattack, and even operating system windows share these interactive properties. Every single element transforms into a weapon or a shield, and players must expertly leverage these interface tricks to subdue the administrator.
