Foolish Mortals Games has released Battleplan, a new World War II real-time strategy title available on Steam. The game tasks players with issuing orders by drawing directly onto a map based on geographical survey data, which thousands of units then attempt to execute.

Rather than direct unit control, players utilize a pencil-based interface to coordinate complex maneuvers. Available tactical options include breakthrough attacks, planned withdrawals, reconnaissance, and preparatory bombing runs, allowing for nuanced strategic planning beyond simple movement commands.

The game features a detailed organizational system where players manage a chain of command consisting of headquarters, regiments, battalions, and companies. Users can customize their army's order of battle, requisition units, and develop officers into veterans throughout the campaign.

At launch, the game includes two tutorials and an 11-mission single-player campaign covering the Western Front from D-Day to Operation Varsity. Developers have stated intentions to provide post-launch support, including gameplay improvements and additional theatres of war.
