The upcoming title Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will feature a physical release that contains only the game's opening segment. Players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be required to perform a significant download to access the remainder of the content.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed he advocated for a complete physical version during internal negotiations. However, he noted that the final decision regarding product formats rested with the publishing team, ultimately resulting in the single-disc approach.
Hamaguchi acknowledged player frustration regarding releases that necessitate additional downloads. He further warned that physical media may eventually transition toward including only printed codes within retail boxes rather than actual game data.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is scheduled for release on 8 April 2027. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
