Coin Crew Games has announced that Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School is scheduled for release on November 5, 2026, for the PlayStation 5. This sequel shifts the series from the linear narrative structure of the original title to an expansive open-world campus environment.
The game features a cooperative mode available from the beginning of the experience. Players can engage in both couch and online co-op, allowing them to navigate the entire campus, progress through the story, and solve puzzles together.
The developers have redesigned the campus into distinct areas, such as the Headmaster’s Tower and the Humanities Campus. The latter has been significantly expanded following the destruction of the library in the previous game. The team focused on creating a more immersive world, incorporating interactive landmarks, side quests, and hidden secrets to encourage exploration beyond standard puzzle rooms.
The design philosophy treats the campus itself as a living puzzle. Players may spot locations like the keyhole-shaped fountain from afar before discovering how to reach them. While the Humanities Campus is not immediately accessible, it serves as a central hub for discovery, blending academic aesthetics with the game's signature challenging puzzles.
