Bandai Namco has launched the brand new television series Battle Spirits [Re] ZEKKAI NO KU, bringing the long-running trading card game franchise back into the spotlight.
Directed by Masashi Kudo, the new anime is set in an alternative version of Japan's Bakumatsu period. Political faction clashes within this setting are resolved through card matches, combining traditional animation with 3D elements.
Mechanically, the show features the Core gem system, which governs every action including summoning monsters called Spirits. Opponent health is tracked using 5 physical life gems rather than abstract life points, shifting focus toward resource management.
The fresh television series has started its broadcast on Crunchyroll, offering card game fans a nostalgic yet strategically deep viewing experience.
