Developer Hippo_Magician has officially launched a public playtest for the physics-based boxing roguelike title, Belt Bound Boxing. Players are tasked with guiding a unique boxer from an unknown rookie to a championship title.
The game features procedurally generated boxers, each possessing distinct strengths and weaknesses. Players must adapt their strategies based on these attributes, such as choosing between a high-power fighter with low stamina or a technical boxer focused on speed and footwork.
Gameplay variety is enhanced through modifier cards that grant specific traits, such as the Slip & Rip card, which increases damage output after successfully dodging an opponent's punch. These modifiers allow for the development of specialized fighting styles and new tactical approaches.
Beyond the ring, players must manage their career by negotiating contracts, analyzing opponents, and training. Belt Bound Boxing is scheduled for a Steam release in Q2 2027 with Japanese language support. Interested users can join the playtest via the Steam store page.
