The official X account for the horror game series Amanda the Adventurer announced on October 10 that a film adaptation is currently in development. Production company Blumhouse is collaborating with MatPat to bring the franchise to the big screen.
The original game, developed by MANGLEDmaw Games and published by DreadXP, centers on a protagonist named Riley Park who inherits her aunt Kate's home. While exploring the attic, she discovers VHS tapes containing a mysterious early 2000s children's show featuring a girl named Amanda and a shy sheep named Wooly.
Gameplay involves solving escape-room style puzzles by identifying clues hidden within the VHS footage. As the series progresses, the narrative expands across three titles, moving from the initial house setting to the Kensdale Public Library in the second entry and a derelict facility in Hameln for the third installment.
Blumhouse, known for producing horror films such as Get Out and Five Nights at Freddy's, has not yet disclosed specific details regarding the movie's cast or its official release date.
