A newly discussed open-source software series named ArtCraft has been generating considerable community buzz as a free alternative to established professional creative suites.
The collection includes 7 applications under Crafting Apps, designed to correspond to professional tools covering graphic, video, audio, and publishing workflows.
Crafting Apps replicates Adobe layout logic, shortcut keys, and UI arrangement to minimize user adaptation time, while utilizing pure Rust programming to leverage DirectX on Windows and Metal API on macOS for improved graphic rendering efficiency.
Professional designers still face obstacles such as incomplete compatibility with certain files beyond PSD formats and the absence of established extensions, brushes, and API integrations accumulated over 20 years.
The suite is entirely free, open-source, and functions offline, allowing developers to contribute suggestions, modifications, and user-created modules or AI features.
