Osaka Electro-Communication University announced that it will host the Osaka Serious Game Day on October 24. The event, organized in collaboration with IGDA Japan's SIG-Growth, will take place at the university's Neyagawa campus with free admission for all attendees.
This event serves as the inaugural flagship gathering for the university's Game and Social Design major, which was established in April 2026. Serious games are defined as titles developed specifically for education, healthcare, and addressing various social issues.
The program features a panel discussion titled The Future of Serious Games as Seen by Universities, featuring former Nintendo director Goro Abe, known for the WarioWare series. Additional sessions will cover case studies on business succession and bicycle safety, alongside discussions on East Asian game research trends.
Attendees can explore and play serious games created by students, with opportunities to engage directly with the developers. Participation requires advance registration via Peatix.
