Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that the port of Ace Combat Zero, originally included as a pre-order bonus for Ace Combat 8: Wings of the Ve, is now expected to be distributed as a standalone application on Steam.
Previously, the port was restricted to early purchasers and pre-order customers due to complexities involving fighter jet licensing. The developer had explicitly stated that a standalone release would not be possible, even issuing warnings to players to secure their copies through pre-orders before the launch of Ace Combat 8.
Following user feedback and requests regarding the distribution method, the company apologized for the inconvenience and began exploring a standalone format. Currently, the team is conducting final quality and performance checks to ensure the application is ready for the platform.
Once released, the standalone version will coexist with the original version launched via Ace Combat 8. Furthermore, the developer plans to support save data synchronization between both versions using Steam Cloud. It is important to note that this update does not grant access to the game for users who did not originally qualify for the pre-order bonus.
