Sega and Atlus have released a playable prologue for Metaphor: ReFantazio on the Nintendo Switch 2. This JRPG, developed by the creators of the Persona series, is scheduled for a full release on the console on November 12.
The game introduces a combat system that blends traditional turn-based mechanics with real-time action elements. Players can customize their party using archetypes, which provide flexibility in strategy and character evolution through unique class skills.
In its review, Vandal praised the title as a wonderful turn-based game with a fantastic progression system. The publication highlighted the narrative's exploration of political themes, including reflections on democracy, populism, and totalitarianism.
The demo allows players to experience the beginning of the story, and progress can be transferred to the final version upon release. The game holds a 94/100 score on Metacritic and received the award for best role-playing game at The Game Awards 2024.
