Microsoft officially announced the Xbox Nano Controller on October 14, targeting younger players and those seeking a more portable gaming experience. Priced at $49.99, the device is marketed as the smallest controller ever released by the company, offering a more affordable alternative to the standard Xbox gamepad.
The hardware measures slightly over five inches in length and weighs 3.5 ounces. It features 18 standard inputs, a rechargeable battery, and a new programmable Action Button designed for quick shortcuts like capturing gameplay or screenshots. The controller supports both Bluetooth and Xbox Wireless connectivity.
Designed for cloud play, the controller is being promoted alongside specific holiday bundles in the United States. These include offers for new Game Pass Ultimate subscribers who purchase select Samsung TVs or Meta Quest headsets. While the controller supports cloud gaming, Microsoft noted that future cloud playtime limits may eventually require additional payments, though specific costs and thresholds remain unannounced.
Preorders for the device are currently open. Microsoft plans to begin availability in select markets starting in November, with intentions to expand to further regions later. The company cautioned that pricing may fluctuate depending on the specific country.
