The developers of World of Warcraft: Forever are actively encouraging players to create multiple characters, or alts, as a core component of the game's design. Launching November 4, the title is positioned by executive producer Holly Longdale as an accessible entry point for newcomers, offering a lower barrier to entry than other versions of the MMO.

A central feature supporting this approach is the Legacy System, which rewards achievement-style points for major accomplishments. These points can be invested into talent-tree-style options that provide quality-of-life improvements. Principal designer Kris Zierhut notes that creating alts allows players to efficiently acquire easier points rather than solely pursuing the most difficult challenges.

Blizzard intends to release new content across various level bands to ensure leveling remains engaging. Lead game designer Tim Jones explains that this strategy allows players to experience different progression paths and accommodate varying time commitments. Future updates will include new leveling zones, dungeons, and profession items to ensure that every journey feels unique.

To further support alt-focused gameplay, Ion Hazzikostas mentioned that the team is considering implementing account-wide features, such as a shared bank, to eliminate the inconvenience of manually mailing items between characters. This potential addition aims to streamline the experience for players managing multiple characters in the evolving world.
