Telltale's The Wolf Among Us Remastered is scheduled to launch on October 29. Matt Saia, the game director for the remaster and creative vice president at Telltale, discussed the return to Fabletown in an official interview.
According to Saia, the development team aimed to create a respectful update that honors Telltale's legacy while introducing the title to new players and offering an entertaining experience for returning fans. The team intentionally left the core story, directorial choices, and overall art style untouched because those elements are viewed as sacred, while incorporating updated visuals and new development content.
The remaster introduces a dedicated Noir Mode, which delivers a pure film noir atmosphere in black and white with darker shadows rather than selective color highlights. Technical upgrades involved updating Telltale's original engine to the latest version used in the Batman series, creating new shaders, and completely redoing the lighting for every scene in the game.
Every character was recreated from scratch with all-new, highly detailed models and textures rather than simply increasing the resolution. Additionally, the werewolf character has been made significantly fiercer, wilder, and more powerful than in the original release while remaining faithful to the source material.
