The Ubisoft Workers of Montreal Union launched a petition titled to preserve hybrid work, which has successfully gathered over 300 signatures. Game Workers Unite Montreal started the campaign on September 30 by sharing an announcement on social media, inviting every Ubisoft Montreal employee to sign and encouraging supporters to reach out to their networks. The union noted that the majority of the signatures were collected in person as employees met colleagues during break hours.

The United Videogame Workers Union expressed its support for the campaign, stating that leadership must be held accountable for cost-cutting measures and returning on previous agreements. The return-to-office policy was implemented earlier in the year as part of Ubisoft's restructuring into Creative Houses, requiring all staff to return to the office five days a week alongside an annual allowance of work-from-home days.

Senior vice president of studio operations Marie-Sophie de Waubert explained that the mandate aims to strengthen onsite collaboration, collective dynamics, and creativity in a selective market. CFO Frederick Duguet added that the changes are intended to boost collective performance for AAA titles, while noting the company will discuss the modus operandi with employees and representatives. Previously in February, a three-day international strike involving at least 1,200 employees took place in response to the restructuring and return-to-office mandate.
