Ubisoft is preparing for additional staff reductions at its German locations, according to a report from The Game File. This follows a previous wave of layoffs that impacted hundreds of employees across various studios in Europe and America. The company has engaged in discussions with the Works Council regarding a voluntary departure plan for affected staff.

The upcoming cuts will specifically impact the Mainz, Berlin, and Dusseldorf studios, with the latter expected to experience the most significant impact. Mainz is recognized for its contributions to titles such as Anno 1800, Anno 117: Pax Romana, Rainbow Six Siege, and Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Benedikt Grindel stated in an internal email that these measures are intended to ensure sustainability. The goal is to better position the German studios for future operations by clarifying their organizational setup, capabilities, and specific roles within the company.

These layoffs occur after a major corporate restructuring that divided core intellectual properties into five creative houses. While the company previously aimed for an annual reduction of €200 million in fixed costs and a potential 18% workforce decrease, these new German cuts are reportedly separate from those earlier projections.
