Will de Renzy-Martin, who portrays the lead character Coen in The Blood of Dawnwalker, recently discussed the limitations of generative AI in replicating human acting. In a teaser for the My Perfect Console Podcast, the actor argued that voice quality is secondary to the personality and creative choices that human performers bring to a role.

De Renzy-Martin suggested that directors opting for AI would face significant challenges in eliciting quality performances. He noted that someone would still need to guide the AI to achieve the desired output, potentially resulting in higher costs than hiring a professional actor.

The Blood of Dawnwalker previously faced controversy when developer Rebel Wolves disclosed using text-to-speech AI for cinematic planning, though the final game contains no AI-generated content. Game director Konrad Tomazkiewicz has expressed interest in using AI for tasks like bug fixing, contrasting with other studios like Embark, which used AI for voice lines in The Finals and Arc Raiders.

Eurogamer awarded the game four stars, praising it as a successful dark fantasy adventure from CD Projekt Red alumni. Reviewer assessment highlighted de Renzy-Martin's performance as Coen, describing his voice as calm and velvety, making the character enjoyable to accompany throughout the experience.
