On September 23, 2026, Qualcomm officially introduced two new high-end smartphone mobile processors, named Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. Manufactured using a 2nm node, these processors deliver improved power efficiency and reach a clock speed of 5GHz, a first for smartphone SoCs according to Qualcomm.

The flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 features an Oryon CPU retaining its two prime cores and six performance cores, alongside a revised Oryon Flex Cache providing a shared 16MB L2 cache. Qualcomm states this model delivers a 13 percent increase in CPU performance and a 37 percent improvement in power efficiency compared to the previous generation.

The updated Adreno GPU introduces Matrix Core accelerators to support the Adreno Neural Fusion upscaling and frame generation technology. Additionally, the Hexagon NPU includes an Element Accelerator and expanded shared memory to handle longer contexts, while the Spectra ISP supports 8K video recording at 60fps and 4K slow motion at 240fps.

The standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 offers reduced specifications, omitting the Matrix Core, lacking Adreno Neural Fusion support, retaining standard memory capacity for its NPU, and limiting video capture to 8K at 30fps and 4K at 120fps. Devices featuring these chips are planned from brands including HONOR, iQOO, Motorola, OnePlus, OPPO, REDMI, RedMagic, vivo, and Xiaomi.
