Jagex is refining its strategy for the upcoming Reignited character type following community concerns that veteran players might be marginalized or that the population could be fragmented. The developer is now formalizing methods to better incorporate long-term players into this new initiative.
The studio is actively investigating a system allowing current subscribers to toggle their characters between veteran and Reignited statuses. This proposed feature would preserve existing achievements and grant unique cosmetics without requiring an additional subscription fee, though specific implementation details remain unconfirmed.
Proposed adjustments include hosting Reignited on temporary servers to prevent playerbase splitting, while maintaining distinct economies and progression. Furthermore, Jagex intends to permit the transfer of non-gameplay items like bank spaces and cosmetics to Reignited characters, alongside potential modifications to cross-character play restrictions.
Addressing concerns regarding the game's population, Jagex stated that RuneScape maintains hundreds of thousands of members. While acknowledging a slight long-term decline, the studio asserted that the current community size is sufficient to sustain the game for many years.
