Blizzard Entertainment has announced World of Warcraft: Forever, a new mode for the MMORPG scheduled for release on November 4, 2026. Following a beta period that began on September 17, 2026, the company reports that this testing phase has become the largest in Blizzard's history, with executive producer Holly Longdale describing the level of player participation as magical.

During a panel at PAX Australia 2026, Longdale and associate production director Clay Stone explained that the project, which originated from the success of 2023's Classic Hardcore, will prioritize horizontal content progression. This design choice aims to respect the original 2004 philosophy of the base game rather than focusing on vertical progression.

Regarding community feedback, Longdale stated that Blizzard will no longer prioritize the loudest voices in the room. Instead, the team intends to identify broader trends and conduct thorough research before making changes. The developers acknowledge that this approach means they cannot satisfy every player, as they must remain focused on a specific vision for the game's identity.

Future content for the mode is categorized by Stone into three distinct areas: expected player requests, unexpected experimental concepts, and a hybrid category of features that fit the original vanilla era while offering new surprises. This strategy aims to balance community desires with the studio's creative goals.
