Hideo Kojima recently visited the Sony Corporate Office Building in Tokyo, Japan, as documented in social media posts dated October 13, 2026. This appearance follows the earlier cancellation of his project Physint by Sony, which left the developer seeking a new publisher.

Kojima successfully pitched Physint to Microsoft and gaming executive Asha Sharma, securing a deal that includes film and television adaptation rights. While Bloomberg reported that Sony held concerns regarding the project's budget, timeline, and platform strategy, Kojima Productions maintained that the studio remains profitable and that development continues under the new partnership.

Despite the cancellation, Kojima stated he harbors no ill will toward Sony, noting his 30-year history with the company. He expressed regret that the final notice regarding Physint was delivered abruptly during a June meeting, leaving him concerned about the future of his studio during its 10th anniversary year.

The visit sparked online speculation regarding potential future collaborations or further developments for Death Stranding. Fans also drew comparisons between Kojima’s choice of a Joy Division T-shirt and the fictional assault on Arasaka Tower from Cyberpunk 2077. Physint currently lacks a release window and is expected to follow the launch of OD.
