Escher's Dream is a new Portal 2 modification created by Jack Phoenix. The project draws inspiration from the non-Euclidean spatial designs of artist M.C. Escher, offering players a series of trippy, gravity-defying levels.
The mod features unique mechanics that challenge traditional movement. Players must navigate stairs at impossible angles and utilize green gel to shift gravity, enabling them to walk on walls. Some levels require precise portal placement to loop back into previous rooms.
The experience is notably brief, consisting of only three maps. While the author finds the mod delightful, they caution that the disorienting level design may cause nausea for some players.
This release provides fresh content for Portal 2, though it leaves the author desiring an expanded version or a standalone game featuring similar Escher-inspired concepts.
