NVIDIA has showcased updated DLSS 5 comparisons using Hogwarts Legacy, aiming to address previous criticisms regarding its artificial intelligence implementation. Earlier versions, notably seen in NBA 2K27 last September and initial previews in March, faced backlash for applying an unnatural social media-style filter that altered character faces and visual aesthetics.

Avalanche Software has adjusted the technology for Hogwarts Legacy to better align with the game's original visual intent. These modifications include subtle shading corrections, increased facial sharpness, and improved contrast, resulting in a more natural appearance compared to the controversial iterations previously observed by the community.

Despite these refinements, player feedback remains divided. Some users appreciate the more subtle approach, while others argue the visual improvements are now so minimal that they fail to justify the performance costs associated with the technology. Critics have questioned the necessity of the DLSS 5 branding if the resulting image changes are barely perceptible.

Beyond aesthetics, NVIDIA claims significant technical advancements for the technology. The company reports that the new model is twice as fast as the version released in September and ten times faster than the March iteration. Additionally, it reportedly reduces graphics memory consumption by 20% at 4K resolution, though broader availability is required to verify these performance gains.
