ArenaNet has officially modified its Guild Wars 2 business model by integrating Living World seasonal content directly into the game's expansions. This shift eliminates the previous requirement for players to purchase these narrative bridges as separate add-ons.

Previously, the separate sale of Living World episodes created narrative gaps for players who only purchased expansions, leaving key character developments unexplained. The new structure ensures that expansion owners receive the corresponding seasonal content automatically, providing a more cohesive story experience without additional costs.

Under the new system, base game owners receive season one, while Heart of Thorns includes season two. Path of Fire now bundles seasons three and four, and End of Dragons includes the final season. ArenaNet is also providing gem refunds to players who purchased Living World DLC after 12th September.

The developer stated that this change aims to simplify purchasing options and increase expansion value for new and returning players. This update arrives as the studio prepares for the future, including the eventual release of Guild Wars 3 and the implementation of a cross-game reward system.
