Bandai Namco Entertainment has released the dramatic flight shooter "ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE" on October 2 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Pricing starts at 9,790 yen.

Set in July 2029, the narrative follows a player who is rescued by an old aircraft carrier named "Endurance" after the Central Usea Federation loses its main forces to a surprise invasion by the Republic of Sotoa. Taking on the legendary title of the "Wings of Theve," the player fights alongside three companions to reclaim lost territory.

The game features a 10,000 square kilometer sky rendered by the proprietary "Cloudly" engine, bringing realistic multi-layered clouds, contrails, and sunlight reflections. Players can experience dogfights using faithfully detailed real-world fighter jets and enjoy cinematic first-person ground pilot scenes.

In addition to the campaign, the title introduces the series' largest online mode to date. Operating independently from the campaign's save data, the online component features up to 100-player lobbies where users can customize avatars, acquire and upgrade aircraft, and access arcade cabinets running Namco classic titles.

The online experience offers core missions such as "Co-Op Assault" and "Co-Op Warfare," alongside special missions like scrambles and emergency sorties, plus periodic event missions like deathmatches that allow players to earn rewards and raise their mercenary rank.
