Microsoft is currently testing a new streak-based system within the Xbox Insider program. According to journalist Stephen Totilo, this initiative aims to encourage user loyalty and consistent engagement by tracking consecutive weekly console usage.
The mechanics require players to use their console for at least a few minutes across three days within a single week to maintain their streak. A flame icon accompanied by a numerical counter displays the total number of completed streaks to the user.
While such systems are often designed to foster participation and competition, Totilo notes that they can inadvertently transform leisure activities into perceived obligations. This pressure may lead to user frustration if a streak is broken, as players often feel compelled to maintain high numbers.
Microsoft has not officially announced this feature and declined to comment on potential rewards or specific details when contacted by Totilo. Consequently, the future implementation of this system remains unconfirmed as the company continues to experiment with new platform features.
